The holiday period is normally a time to take a break from everyday activities and do things that you cannot do during the rest of the year, or simply to get away from the daily routine. For Mikael Isaac Dolor, however, it was something different. Mikael is a young player from Barça Academy Manila's U9 team who, while on holiday in Japan with his family, wanted to continue sharing his passion for football. And that's exactly what he did.

The youngster's family contacted the Barça Academy Manila director to see whether it would be possible for him to train during their stay in Japan, and Barça Academy Katsushika was subsequently contacted.

As a result, Mikael was able to train with a group of boys he had never met before during his stay in Japan. Yet on the football pitch it seemed as though they had known each other all their lives, thanks to the shared playing philosophy that unites all Barça academies around the world. Both Mikael and his family were delighted with the experience, which reinforced the club's international reach and showed how Barça football brings us together wherever we are in the world.

A life-enriching experience

The experience proved enriching in more ways than one. Mikael was able to continue training during his holiday, but it was also a valuable experience for the boys and girls of Barça Academy Katsushika. Having the opportunity to welcome and share time with a new teammate from the Philippines, with a different cultural background, posed no difficulties at all thanks to their shared love of Barça and football.
