FC Barcelona head into Sunday’s Clásico knowing that victory would secure once and for all the La Liga title. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Hansi Flick praised the work done throughout the season and stressed the importance of staying true to the team’s identity in a match of this magnitude.

“The only thing we have to focus on is our own display" he said, preferring not to speak too much about Real Madrid. "We’ve had a fantastic season as a team. We want to play our game, with our style and as a team.”

However, he did single out Kylian Mbappé as a major threat: “He’s one of the best players in the world. In every situation he’s very dangerous.”

Describing what the occasion means to everyone, the German said “it’s important for the supporters, for the players and also for us, the staff. We want to win the title, the second in a row. Nothing else matters. We’re fully focused on that.”

“When you watch our home matches, you can see the connection between the team and the fans. That will be important tomorrow.”

“The work of the La Masia players, with their philosophy and mentality, helps the team enormously. The whole squad is important and everyone will give their best.”

“We want to win the match at home. The Clásico is hugely important for everyone, for Madrid and for Barça. That’s why we want to win it.”

Finally, Flick once again emphasised the importance of continuity and maintaining the team’s identity: “We have great confidence and that’s what I want to see tomorrow. We mustn’t change anything we’ve done this season. We have to go out there and play the same way.”
