Focused on LaLiga
Football always gives you another chance to prove yourself. Having gone out of the Champions League over two very tight and hotly contested quarterfinal legs, Flick's side will be looking to use the disappointment in Europe to fuel a final push to win LaLiga. There are seven games remaining and the goal is clear: lift the trophy as soon as possible, just like the German coach said in the aftermath of the UCL quarterfinals.
Spotify Camp Nou a big plus point
The road to the title begins at the Spotify Camp Nou with the visit of Celta. The day after Sant Jordi, the Galicians will be facing a blaugrana side looking for a victory. What's more, FC Barcelona have won all their league matches in the Stadium since it reopened. So, the blaugranes will be looking to use home advantage to get the three points to keep them firmly at the top of the table. The lead over Real Madrid is nine points as it stands.
The all-whites will be the subsequent challenge at the Stadium after two tough away games. The second league Clásico of the season is scheduled for 10 May (kick-off 9.00pm CEST). A red letter day that may prove decisive in this final part of the LaLiga season. If both sides win each gameweek fixture ahead of this always lively clash, a blaugrana win would confirm the title. One game at a time, however.
Tough away matches
Between the games against Celta and Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou, there are two difficult away games. First against Getafe, the proverbial tough place to go where you have to remain focused, as previous seasons have demonstrated. After that, Barça will visit Osasuna, another tough game requiring total concentration in the hunt for points to claim the league trophy.
No one knows whether Barça will already be champions after those games, but the matches come thick and fast in the run up to the end of the season. The blaugranes will travel to play Alavés before a home match against Betis. The LaLiga season will come to a close at the Mestalla stadium against Valencia, a final away trip at a place where emotions always run high. The last two matchday fixtures will all kick off at the same time.
Time to make it two-in-a-row again
After coming close with the comebacks in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, the blaugranes know what they have to do next. Hansi Flick was quite clear in the post-match press conference at the Metropolitano stadium: “The next step is to win LaLiga. We want to win it. Doesn't matter when, but as soon as possible”.
With seven games left, Barça will be wanting to show that the best response is to compete and fight to the end to earn their second consecutive LaLiga title. It hasn't been done since the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons when Ernesto Valverde was in charge. As such, Hansi Flick has another achievement with Barça ahead. A team that never gives up and can always be trusted.
