Recent city derbies at Spotify Camp Nou
On Saturday at 6.30pm CEST, Spotify Camp Nou hosts the Barcelona city derby for the first time in more than three years. The most recent meeting between FC Barcelona and Espanyol in the famous stadium came on 31 December 2022 when Marcos Alonso's early strike for the blaugranes was cancelled out by Joselu's penalty in the 73rd minute.
Since then, relegation for Espanyol and a spell playing at the Estadi Lluís Companys for Barça have meant that Saturday's game is the first at the stadium in recent years. Preceding the 1-1 draw in December 2022 were wins for Barça in 2020/21, Memphis Depay scoring the only goal of the game, and in 2019/20 when Luis Suárez's strike gave the blaugranes a 1-0 win.
13 wins 14 matches
Espanyol have not won at Spotify Camp Nou since a 2-1 win in February 2009 with Mauricio Pochettino as coach. Since then, the only time Barça's city rivals have avoided defeat was in the last meeting at the stadium which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Home and away Barça are undefeated against Espanyol in their last 29 league games against Espanyol, winning 22 of those meetings, the best record of any side in a derby in La Liga history.
