FC Barcelona international diary
Final international break of the season. No fewer than 15 blaugranes have been called up for their respective national teams for the final matches before the World Cup in the summer.
Most are friendlies, but both Robert Lewandowsk and Poland and Roony Bardghji and Sweden still have the chance to qualify for the upcoming World Cup. We update this page daily so keep checking back to see how the blaugranes are getting on. Here is the list of those called up:

Tuesday 31 March
USA 0-2 Portugal
Barça full-back João Cancelo came on at half-time as a replacement for Nuno Mendes in this friendly in Atlanta.
Spain 0-0 Egypt
Lamine Yamal, Olmo and Ferran Torres started in the RCDE Stadium with goalkeeper Joan Garcia making his debut in the second half. Pedri and Fermín also figured in the goalless draw with the African visitors.
Sweden 3-2 Poland
A late goal from Viktor Gyökeres sent Roony Bardghji and Sweden through to the World Cup finals at the expense of Robert Lewandowski and Poland.
England 0-1 Japan
Marcus Rashford played the last 20 minutes in his side defeat at Wembley, Mitoma getting the winner for the visitors.
Algeria 0-0 Uruguay
Ronaldo Araujo played 47 minutes in the goalless draw played at the home of Juventus in Turin.
Spain U21 2-0 Kosovo U21
Marc Bernal played 57 minutes as the U21 side claimed victory. Another important win that seals qualification for the 2027 European Championship.
Netherlands U19 0-3 Spain U19
Another start for Xavi Espart and another win, this time in Benidorm, as the side qualify for the European Championship in Wales.
The day sees a whole host of blaugranes set to be in action with their international sides:
- Roony Bardghji and Robert Lewandowski face off with a place a the World Cup at stake in the play off final between Sweden and Poland in Solna at 8.45pm CEST.
Other blaugranes are in friendly action as a warm up game for the summer's World Cup continue:
- Araujo and Uruguay face Algeria at the Allianz Stadiumin Turin at 8.30m CEST.
- England and Marcus Rashford are at Wembley for a game against Japan. (8.45pm CEST)
- Spain with Joan Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Fermín, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres have a friendly in Barcelona against Egypt at the RCDE Stadium (9pm CEST).
- At 1am CEST Wednesday Portugal and João Cancelo meet the USA in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Monday 30 March
There are no games with Barça involvement today but the internationals are busy preparing for a packed day on Tuesday, with games for Uruguay, Spain, Spain U21, England, Poland, Sweden and Portugal.
Sunday 29 March
There are no games involving Barça players today.
Saturday 28 March
Mexico 0-0 Portugal
Scoreless draw in the first match back at the famous Azteca stadium after redevelopment. João Cancelo came on at half-time and played the entire second half.
Spain U19 4-0 Finland U19
Another big win for Spain U19s. Xavi Espart was rested for this match after having played a full game just three days earlier. This second win of the international break means Spain will be through to the European Championships with a draw or win against the Netherlands on March 31.
Friday 27 March
Raphinha returns to Barcelona
The FC Barcelona number 11 has suffered a hamstring injury and has left the Brazil camp.
Spain 3–0 Serbia
Pau Cubarsí and Ferran Torres both played a role in the goals that secured victory for Luis de la Fuente’s side. A through ball from the Barça centre-back allowed Mikel Oyarzabal to make it 2–0. Later on, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres combined for the final 3–0, scored by former La Masia player Víctor Muñoz. Credit also goes to Torres for a clever backheel assist. Cubarsí, Pedri, Fermín López and Lamine Yamal all started, while Olmo and Ferran Torres came on in the second half.
Cyprus U21 0-7 Spain U21
FC Barcelona's Marc Bernal started a comfortable win for the Spanish in Lanarca, playing the first 53 minutes of a game. With six wins from six games, Spain are comfortable leaders in the chase for a place in the finals in Albania. A win over Kosovo on Tuesday would make sure of their place.
Thursday 26 March
Poland 2-1 Albania
Ukraine 1-3 Sweden
Poland and Sweden will be going head to head at the Nationalarenan, Solna next Tuesday at 8.45pm CET after they both negotiated their playoff semi-finals this Tuesday.
Poland saw off Albania 2-1, who led 1-0 in Warsaw at the break, but Robert Lewandowski claimed an equaliser on 63 minutes and ten minutes later Inter Milan's Piotr Zieliński bagged the winner.
Roony Bardghji was an unused substitute as Sweden won 3-1 over Ukraine in neutral Valencia.
Meanwhile, over in Boston, France, without the injured Jules Kounde and despite playing almost all of the second half with ten men, beat Raphinha's Brazil 2-1 in a friendly. The Barça striker played the first 45 minutes before being replaced by Luiz Henrique.
Tuesday 25 March
Spain U19 4-0 Slovenia U19
A start and 90 minutes for Xavi Espart, who delivered a complete performance in the opening match of the international window. The La Masia youngster played the full game in Spain’s convincing win.
