Aitana Bonmatí nominated for Laureus award
Three-time Ballon d'Or winner in line to be named World Sportswoman of the Year
Aitana Bonmatí is among the athletes shortlisted for the Laureus award for World Sportswoman of the Year. It's the third time in a row that the triple Ballon d'Or winner has been a nominee for a prize she won in 2024 and missed out to Simone Biles in 2025.
After a year in which Barça Femini won the Liga F, Copa de la Reina and Spanish Super Cup and reach the UWCL final, Aitana is up against Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (USA, athletics), Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA, athletics), Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus, tennis), Faith Kipyegon (Kenya, athletics) and Katie Ledecky (USA, swimmer).
This years prize ceremony is being held at the Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid on April 20.
