Barça Legends return to Mexico
The Barça Legends are back in action on Tuesday with a game against Real Madrid Leyendas in Guadalajara, Mexico. The game kicks of at 8pm local time, 3am CET on Wednesday, and it will be the fourth meeting between the team this season after victory for the blaugranes in San Salvador in El Salvador, a defeat in San Jose, Costa Rica and last week's draw in Los Angeles. The match will be played at Estadio Akron, home to Chivas de Guadalajara, with a capacity of almost 50,000 and which will be one the venue for four matches in the 2026 World Cup. his match can be watched live on Barça's YouTube Premium channel.
Fourth visit to Mexico
The game in Guadalajara will be match number four for the Legends in Mexico after matches in Toluca, Monterrey and Morelia. The fist came in April 2025 against Real Madrid Leyendas in Toluca, a game that ended 2-2 and was decided on penalties. In August of last year the blaugranes beat Tigres Leyendas 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from David Villa, and in January of this year Morelia hosted a game between the Barça Legends and a local team. Mexico has now hosted more games than any other country since the Barça Legends were founded in 2016.
Xavi, Puyol and Márquez in the squad
Albert Ferrer, Barça Legends, has put together the following squad for the game in Guadalajara: Jesús Angoy, Vítor Baia, Sergi Barjuan, Rafa Márquez, Martín Montoya, Marc Valiente, Carles Puyol, Fernando Navarro, Gerard López, Phillip Cocu, Xavi, Marc Crosas, Gaizka Mendieta, Javier Saviola, Haruna Babangida and Nolito.
Record number of matches
The game on Tuesday will be the eighth for Barça Legends this season, a record for the team after the seven last season. In 2017/18 they managed six matches and in 2023/24 five. The season started with a game in Buenos Aires against River Plate, a match in Monterrey against Tigres, a game in Abuja, Nigeria against a local XI and another local XI match up in Morelia, Mexico. Finally, there have been the three games against the Real Madrid Leyendas in El Salvador, Costa Rica and the USA.
