Electoral process progressing as normal
The Club's electoral process is progressing smoothly with no events of note occurring. Those were the thoughts of Josep Cubells, vice-president of the Club and secretary for the Board of Directors, who is ultimately the person responsible in the institution for guiding the process that will end with voting day on 15 March.
Cubells presided over a new ordinary meeting of the Electoral Commission, and afterwards he highlighted that everything is progressing in accordance with the schedule as planned. “The process is progressing as was expected. As of today, we have held five meetings of the Electoral Commission, which aims to ensure the process in our club remains fair and is responding to the different concerns put forward by the potential candidates during this period. There have been no events of note and, therefore, everything is totally normal”, he assured.
In this sense, the vice-president highlighted the desire of the Club to ensure the process is transparent and participatory. “We want to provide a service that ensures these elections are as clean and transparent as possible and so that every member with voting rights can participate and decide who will be the president and their Board of directors for the next five years”, he stated.
Cubells also underlined the social engagement surrounding these elections. An initial example came with the Barça v Levante match, when four potential candidates made the most of the occasion to collect signatures. “Members showed they were interested and enthusiastic. It was evident that there is a desire to participate in this electoral process, as was clear during this first phase”, he pointed out.
114.504 members with voting rights
The official roll for these elections is 114.504 with voting rights out of a total of 148,012. During the electoral roll inspection period, a total of 16,911 inquiries were recorded, both online and in person, resulting in 50 data corrections.
As Cubells explained, “there were no requests for inclusion or exclusion regarding the provisional electoral roll approved on 13 February”.
The schedule up to and including election day
The vice-president went through the schedule up to and including voting day again, with the key dates as follows:
- 2 March: Deadline for potential candidates to submit signatures. The count for the 2,337 signatures required to qualify as an official candidate will take place on the same day.
