Barça foiled by the frame 25 times
Sometimes it's a matter of centimetres when it comes to scoring goals and the woodwork simply gets in the way of the celebrations erupting as the ball hits the back of the net. Unfortunately, FC Barcelona know this too well this season, as they are the team in the major European leagues to have hit the frame of the goal most as it stands, with no fewer than 25 efforts hitting the woodwork during the current 2025/26 LaLiga season.
The blaugranes lead the way on this stat ahead of other clubs such as Manchester United (18), Inter (17), Leipzig (15) and Bayern Munich (15).
25 efforts that could have changed games
These efforts on goal that end up hitting the frame have been happening all season so far, and even twice in quite a few matches – against Mallorca at the Son Moix stadium, Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere stadium, Girona at the both Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys and the Montilivi stadium (during the recent defeat), Celta Vigo at the Balaídos stadium and Elche at the Martínez Valero stadium.
However, the most frustrating game on this metric remains the match at the Anoeta stadium, with four efforts hitting the frame against Real Sociedad; Barça did all they could to win, but couldn't come away with the three points in the end.
Ferran foiled by the frame most
If we look at individual players, Ferran Torres leads the way in Europe with 6 efforts hitting the woodwork, while Dani Olmo and Raphinha have 4 each. Three blaugranes ranking among the highest on a stat that is testament to an attacking approach, but it also shows how these fine margins can make the difference.
During a long, demanding and competitive season, these types of details take on even more relevance. The difference between earning points is sometimes just a question of centimetres.
