Another unstoppable display by Barça at the Palau. The blaugranes ran out 51-32 winners against Horneo Eón Alicante (51-32), falling just one goal shy of the all-time goals scored in one game record in the league, the 52 scored by Atlético Madrid. All the same, it was a powerful performance that ended in a win for the leaders.

Spanish Cup presented, on with the show

A month and a half since the last home game, the blaugranes returned with a trophy, the Spanish Cup. After presenting it to the fans, Carlos Ortega's side quickly showed some positivity on the pitch too. With an initial 7-3 due to Elderaa being on song in attack, the blaugranes set the bar to a level that the side from Alicante never managed to match.

A lot of movement in the forward line and an incisive Petar Cikusa in attack saw the lead grow. The visitors' coach tried to slow things down after 10 minutes with a timeout to little avail. There was a lot of rotation and minutes for young players like Miguel Martín, and the lead remained about seven to eight goals, which ended up becoming 13 at the break (27-14), partly down to the robustness of Bazán in defence and Hallgrímsson in goal.

Close to the record

No difference after the break from Barça, albeit Saric was now in goal, but Manuel Ortega and Blaz Janc really punished the visitors on the counter attack. The record of 52 goals in a league game by Atlético Madrid was now coming into view.

Ortega wanted to wake up his side, who had relaxed in defence, calling a time out and it worked. The visitors were attacking with seven by now, and even Filip Saric scored directly to try to get the record, which ultimately required just one goal more. All the same, the final 51-32 score sees Barça equal their highest score in a game they achieved twice before against Sagunto (20-51 in 2024 and 51-29 in the 2014/15 season).
