Lamine Yamal just keeps breaking records. His remarkably early rise to the top of the game has already seen him rewrite many of football’s youngest-ever milestones. And after his latest goal against Mallorca at Spotify Camp Nou, he has added another one to the list.

This time, he becomes the top scorer across Europe’s five major leagues before the age of 19. With that strike he now has 24 goals, overtaking Kylian Mbappé, who had scored 23 for AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain before turning 19 on 23 December 2017.

A different kind of player

Lamine Yamal’s impact hasn’t just transformed the play of FC Barcelona. It’s also reshaping the statistics. His vision, pace and ability to beat defenders have already made him one of the world’s leading providers of assists. Add goals to that mix, and you have something special.

Mbappé is the latest star to be surpassed, but before him Yamal had already left behind young guns such as Wayne Rooney, Valeri Bozhinov and Barça’s own Ansu Fati.

In La Liga, he now stands clear at the top, ahead of Ansu Fati and other names like Bojan Krkić and Lionel Messi.

Wonderful season

Yamal is enjoying a remarkable campaign. The teenager has now found the net in five consecutive matches, a amazing run that has included goals against Mallorca, Albacete Balompié, Elche CF, FC Copenhagen and Real Oviedo.

He is already up to 15 goals this season, rapidly closing in on the 18 he scored across the whole of last campaign. And to think his career is only just beginning!
