Joan Laporta: 'Call for elections on February 9'
This Monday 9 February, the elections for the FC Barcelona presidency will be officially called.
The current president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, explained this at a meeting of Barça supporters’ clubs in Albacete. “On February 9 the election call will be published" he said. "And then, as set out in the Statutes, some members of the Board of Directors will have to resign in order to stand for re-election. We will therefore do so with a Board meeting that we will also hold this coming Monday. The decision is to hold the elections on March 15 March. The official publication of the election call will also include the timetable and details of the electoral process."
Laporta also spoke about the club’s intention to host the 2029 Champions League Final at Spotify Camp Nou. “Barça does not stand still" he said. "The electoral process is part of democratic normality, of the democratic functioning of a club that is owned by its members, such as Barça. Decisions continue to be taken and, yes, this proposal has been made, and we trust that it will become a reality.”

The meeting was also attended by Enric Bosch, Head of FC Barcelona’s Penyes Department; José Manuel Lozano, delegate of the FC Barcelona Penyes Advisory Council for Castilla-La Mancha; and Daniel Peinado, President of the Penyes Association of Castilla-La Mancha.
