UCAM Murcia 84-83 FC Barcelona: Late defeat
The Barça basketball team suffered a cruel defeat losing 84-83 against UCAM Murcia in a game in which Xavi Pascual's side were ahead until the closing moments.
The blaugranes tried to set out a marker early on after two defeats in their last two matches and two three pointers from Clyburn and the contribution of Laprovittola saw them storm into a 26-10 lead in the first quarter. Murcia fought back but Barça still held a 30-18 advantage going into the second period.
The crowd in the Palacio de los Deportes urged the home side on in the second quarter and UCAM came back into the game at 38-30, enough for Xavi Pascual to call a time out. Nevertheless, Barça retained their advantage at half time, going in at the break 51-42 ahead.
In the second half Murcia continued to reduce the deficit. From 60-54 down, the home side went into the fourth quarter trailing by seven points at 68-61. The fourth quarter saw Murcia score seven unanswered points to make it 68-68. Barça reacted and surged into a six point lead which was then wiped out by two three pointers from De Julius.
The blaugranes forged ahead again at 82-76 before UCAM brought it back to 83-81 to Barça. Then, with little remaining Nakic nailed a three pointer for Murcia and despite chances from the free throw line and the outside for Barça, the home took the win at 84-83.
