FC Barcelona’s ten-game winning streak in the ACB came to an end as La Laguna Tenerife handed Xavi Pascual his first league defeat since returning to the bench. A dominant second quarter from the blaugranes was not enough to secure victory.

The game opened evenly, with both teams trading baskets. Laprovittola’s three put Barça ahead 17–14, but Tenerife responded to close the first quarter in front at 17–23. Although the visitors briefly extended their lead early in the second quarter, Barça took control of the period.

With Miles Norris orchestrating play, a Brizuela three and a Laprovittola two stretched the lead to 38–27, capped by a devastating 21–2 run. Improved defence helped Barça build momentum, but Tenerife steadied themselves before the break, leaving the score at 45–36.

All goes wrong

The visitors regrouped after halftime, with Vesely leading the scoring as Tenerife prevented Barça from pulling away. The gap narrowed to 64–62 by the end of the third quarter, setting up a tense finish.

In the final period, Tenerife overturned the deficit with a decisive 0–12 run, moving them to 70–74. Kevin Punter tied the game at 82 with 52 seconds remaining, but Tenerife showed greater composure in the closing moments to seal the win and end Barça’s ACB streak, which dated back to 9 November 2025.

Attention now turns to Europe, with Barça visiting Olympiacos on Thursday 29 January (20:15). Before then, the Copa draw will take place on 26 January.
