Barça Women have claimed their sixth Spanish Super Cup title with a hard fought 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the final. A penalty from Alexia in injury time at the end of the second half allowed the celebrations to begin with result still up in the air despite Esme Brugts' goal in the first half.

Slight advantage 

The final was as competitive as you could imagine with silverware at stake. Barça started by dominating possession with Real Madrid sitting back and looking to hit the blaugranes on the counter. Pere Romeu's team had more of the game but they still found it difficult to create chances in the early minutes. 

As the half progressed Barça gradually started to threaten more and more with Real Madrid keeper Misa making an impressive stop to deny Vicky on 27 minutes. Just a minute later Barça were in front when Brugts scored with a great header to make it 1-0 in the Castalia stadium in Castellón. Moments before half time Real Madrid were almost level when Dabritz headed against the crossbar. 

Misa keeps her team in the game 

In the second half Real Madrid's pressure kept Barça on the back foot a lot of the time but the blaugranes still looked the more likely to score. Real Madrid keeper Misa made another valuable save for her side to deny Pajor after which Graham Hansen could only head against the bar. Misa made a double save from Pina just after the hour mark as Pere Romeu's team searched for that all important second goal. 

The Madrid side still felt that they were in the game and there were chances to Caicedo and Weir in the final 20 minutes. Misa denied Pajor again in a one on one in the final 10 minutes before Alexia's penalty in injury time finally decided the final in Barça's favour. A sixth Super Cup title for the blaugranes!
