Fermín more productive than ever
Fermín López is turning into a lifeline for Barça. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, the midfielder has become one of Hansi Flick’s most reliable solutions, a player capable of making the difference when needed most.
Against Racing Santander, the Andalusian’s introduction was decisive in unlocking a game that was beginning to get problematic. After yet another assist in the Copa del Rey, Fermín is now enjoying his most productive season ever in terms of both goals and assists.
Star numbers
His impact on the game is clear to see. His energy, combined with his ability to break lines and his sharp decision-making in the final third, makes him a nightmare for opposition defences. The numbers back it up, and it’s only January!
He already has 8 goals and 10 assists in just 22 appearances. Last season, he finished with 8 goals and 9 assists in 46 matches, while in his debut year under Xavi he scored 11 goals with no assists in 42 games. The upward spiral is plain to see.
Second only to Lamine
Barça are one of the most prolific attacking sides in world football. With so many decisive players going forward, goals and assists are spread widely across the squad.
Even so, Fermín is currently the second-highest contributor in goals and assists, behind only Lamine Yamal, who has 10 goals and 10 assists so far. Next on the list come Ferran Torres and Raphinha (16 goal contributions each), followed by Rashford (15), Lewandowski (11), Pedri (9) and Dani Olmo (7).
