Penyes provide one of the most heartwarming welcomes this season in Santander
The hotel where the FC Barcelona team are staying ahead of the last 16 Copa del Rey match against Racing de Santander provided the setting for a lovely meeting between representatives from FC Barcelona supporters' clubs in Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country, and Barça president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafael Yuste, the director responsible for the Social Area Josep Ignasi Macià and the director responsible for youth football Joan Soler.
The meeting took place in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, with the passion for FC Barcelona evident. The penyes were represented by delegate Pablo Asensio from the Advisory Committee of the Penyes of Asturias and Cantabria, delegate Javier Martínez from the Advisory Committee of the Penyes of the Basque Country, and members from PB Turón, PB Julio Alberto, PB Llanes, PB Torrelavega, PB Irún, PB Candil and PB Don Pelayo.
Joan Laporta appreciated the warm welcome for the team from the blaugrana fans in the region on their return to Santander and he assured that “this has been one of the best welcomes we have had this season”. This is the first time that Barça have travelled to play Racing de Santander during his second term as president.
The president also highlighted the good spell the Club is going through, which is founded on “financial recovery, a team that can fight for every trophy, and a stadium, which due to our bravery, is being built”.
