Hansi Flick, expert in finals
Another final victory for Hansi Flick with FC Barcelona's win over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super on Sunday. The 3-2 victory handed Barça their first silverware of the season in Jeddah and maintained the German coach's 100% final in finals - eight victories in eight appearances.
From Bayern al Barça
Hansi Flick's run started in the 2019/20 campaign with Bayern Munich, lifting the German Cup in July 2020, Robert Lewandowski scoring twice in a 4-2 over Bayer Leverkusen. Since then the German has added another seven final wins: the 2020 Champions League, the 2021 European Super Cup, the 2021 German Super Cup, the 2021 World Club Cup, the 2025 Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup in 2025 and 2026.
Three in a row against Real Madrid
With Barça it is three out of three for Hansi Flick in terms of finals with the coach setting a club record of winning three in a row against Real Madrid. Five wins in six Clásicos mean now only Pep Guardiola (9), Johan Cruyff (9) and Terry Venables (6) have more wins as Barça coach against Real Madrid.
Into the Top-10
With regards to trophies, the win in Saudi Arabia on Sunday means Hansi Flick in eighth place on the all time of list of title winning coaches at FC Barcelona, level with Patrick O'Connell, Enrique Fernández, Louis Van Gaal and Ernesto Valverde. In fact, no-one else has won as much in just their second season as coach.
So as Bayern Munich and Barça coach, Hansi Flick remains unbeatable in finals, a feat that few others can boast of achieving.
