Second in a row. La Liga has announced the competition’s Player of the Month for December, and once again the award goes to a Barça player: Lamine Yamal. The  No.10 has claimed the accolade for the second consecutive month, further underlining his status as one of the league’s standout performers at a time when Barça have established themselves as outright leaders.

Indispensable under Flick

Lamine earns the prize after an almost flawless December. The young blaugrana featured for virtually every minute and proved decisive as Barça consolidated top spot in the league, now holding a four-point advantage over second places Real Madrid.

In total, Barça played four league matches in December, with Lamine Yamal on the pitch for 358 of the 360 minutes. He was substituted only once, right at the of the Atlético Madrid clash on 2 December. Over that spell, the La Masia graduate scored twice (against Betis and Villarreal) and completed 27 successful dribbles (more than six per match).

To take the award, the blaugrana beat off competition from Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Koke (Atlético Madrid), Ionuț Radu (Celta de Vigo) and Germán Valera (Elche).

Third time

As well as being his second in succession, this is the third such award of the 18-year-old’s career, following wins in November 2025 and September 2024. That places him joint fourth among players with the most Player of the Month awards, level with Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappé, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior. He has been named La Liga’s best under-23 player on three occasions (August 2023, August 2024 and February 2025).
