December 2 was the day for the fourth edition of the Mikulás Gála, organised by Barça Academy Budapest in collaboration with the Magyar Református Szeretetszolgálat. The event took place at the soccer school’s facilities in Budapest and brought together around 200 boys and girls from 23 different towns across Hungary. The day was designed for the children, most of them of preschool and primary school age, to enjoy a programme of games and sports activities led by the academy’s coaches.

The aim of the event is to promote community values and offer a day of festive joy to children who do not usually get the chance to do activities like this. The initiative reflects the academy’s commitment to embodying the spirit of “more than a club” by encouraging integration, solidarity and enjoyment through sport and shared experiences.

Who is Mikulás?

Mikulás is the Hungarian name for Santa Claus, who comes to the country on December 6. Young children leave a shiny boot near a window so that Mikulás can fill it with fruit, sweets, nuts, chocolates or small gifts. On one condition! They need to have behaved well throughout the year.
