FC Barcelona beat Cuenca 42–22 in Saturday's Liga ASOBAL fixture, led by outstanding performances from Cikusa and Makuc. The explosive start left Cuenca unable to recover, and Barça cruised towards their 11th consecutive league win.

Blistering start

Barça opened with a clear game plan and a disciplined defence. A 4–0 run, built on steals and efficient attacking, quickly grew to 7–0, forcing Jiménez to call an early timeout.

Cuenca struggled to impose the slower rhythm they wanted, but they gradually settled, with Freire and Tavares helping them stay in touch as Barça’s missed clear chances allowed a small comeback. The first half ended 21–14. Cikusa was exceptional, scoring eight goals in 30 minutes and dominating at both ends of the court.

Second half

Although Cuenca started well, Barça moved to close out the match. With Nielsen strong in goal and the attack maintaining its pace, the gap widened decisively. In the final stretch, the game became a goal exchange, with academy players Oriol San Felipe and Manuel Ortega (4 goals) getting minutes as things ended 42–22.

Barça’s next game is on 10 December at 8.30pm CET against Villa de Aranda.
