45,157 Culers roar as Spotify Camp Nou comes back to life
Spotify Camp Nou was once again drenched in blaugrana passion. Some 45,157 Culers flooded the stands with smiles, as the ground enjoyed an unforgettable day after almost three years without feeling the warmth of its devoted supporters. Delighted to return to their home ground, fans came decked out in Barça shirts and scarves, ready for a day charged with feeling, all helped along by the pre-match activities that celebrated this long-awaited homecoming. Without doubt, a day that will remain etched forever in club memory.
The desire to return to Spotify Camp Nou was palpable. It showed on the happy faces filling every one of the newly installed seats, and in the energy of a pre-match show to remember. Soon enough, the stadium's stands were overflowing with passion and blaugrana colours, 909 days since such scenes had last been witnessed. Young and old alike were on their feet early, phones out to capture the moment before dancing to the beat of Mon Dj.
Goosebumps
The rhythm kept flowing through Barça veins. Figa Flawas warmed up the typically chilly November air with their most festive tunes, all the way up to the moment Hansi Flick’s players emerged, a simply spectacular sight that will go down in club folklore.
Johan Cruyff’s famous mantra, “go out and have fun”, was written across the players’ faces, buoyed by a sublime rendition of the Barça anthem from the Orfeó Català youth choir. Goosebumps. Or, as the legendary Dutchman would have said: bumpgooses. The feeling only intensified with the firework display, perfectly synchronised to the Barça anthem, lighting up the stadium as one united roar.
The cherry on top of this magnificent build-up was a ceremonial kick-off rich in meaning and symbolism. It was carried out by two of the club’s longest-standing members, Juan Canela Salamero and Jordi Penas i Iberri, who were also present at the stadium’s original inauguration in 1957, a lifetime of unwavering Barça commitment.
Another magical moment that helped shape a pre-match occasion for the history books on the day Spotify Camp Nou welcomed its crowd home once more, a day that also danced to the rhythm of The Tyets during the half-time show.
As the Catalan group sang, there’s nowhere I’ll ever feel quite as much at home.
