Espanyol B 1-0 Barça Atlètic: Defeat in the derby
The local derby in Sant Adrià de Besós saw Barça Atlétic go down to defeat against Espanyol B in the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, a goal from Ferran deciding a tough, defensive contest in the second half.
Despite the loss, the blaurganes remain in second place in group 3 of the Segunda Federación, just four point off the lead.
Solidity in the first half
The opening 45 minutes were dominated by the two defences. The closest Juliano Belletti's team came to opening the scoring in the first half was when Dani Rodríguez's effort whistle past hte post on 10 minutes. The home side looked to threaten from set pieces - Jofre heading over from a corner on 27 minutes and then Vicandi going close again from a corner.
Derby comes to life
In the second Barça Atlètic tried to take the initiative with Dani Rodríguez again going close in the first minute after the restart. Espanyol grew in confidence going forward and Vicandi went close on a couple of occasions before blaugrana keeper Bernad was called into action to deny Jan Peries.
Toni Fernández rattled the bar for Barça just minutes before Ferran Gómez opened the scoring, finishing after help from Vicandi and Lluc Castell. Barça went for the equaliser but their local rivals shut up shop to take all three points.
