Marcus Sorg: 'We made more mistakes than usual'
After Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid, Marcus Sorg admitted that the team had “made more mistakes than usual.” This condemned the Culers, who were unable to show their best version or take any points from their visit to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Even so, he made it clear that the team kept up their energy until the end as they tried to create more chances: “We made a lot of mistakes, more than we usually do" he conceded. "In the end we had more energy to create more opportunities."
The assistant coach also defended Lamine Yamal’s performance: “It wasn’t an easy game for Lamine. He was very well marked; we tried everything, but sometimes the defence does a good job. We also have to understand that he’s coming back from injury and is only 18 years old. If they defend him well, that can happen, but we know his potential.”
Sorg added that the team had tried to alter their tactical setup to create more opportunities, although these adjustments didn’t bring the desired results: “In the end we tried to change the structure. We had to try something, but in the end it didn’t work. We tried everything, but we couldn’t make it happen.”
