The players woke up on Friday morning cheered by the memories of their win in the Champions League opener, but there was training to be done before they caught their flight back from northeast England to Barcelona. For this one, they were divided into two sets of players.

The substitutes last night made their way to Newcastle United's training ground at Whitley Park, where they exercised as normal. Meanwhile, the starters at St James' Park stayed in the hotel for a warm-down session, and then everyone regrouped to head to the airport and home.

There is no time to wallow in the glories of Thursday night for there is another game not much more than two days away. On Sunday, Getafe will be coming to the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
