The Estadi Johan Cruyff witnessed a slice of history on Sunday as Barça hit six past Valencia in a game packed with milestones, particularly in front of goal. All six strikes were shared evenly between Fermín López, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, each man helping himself to a brace.

Second time this century

It’s only the second time this century that three Barça players have scored twice in the same match. The last occasion came back in April 2017, when Leo Messi, André Gomes and Paco Alcácer all struck twice in a 7–1 demolition of Osasuna at the Camp Nou, Mascherano adding the other on what proved to be his only goal for the club.

Liga first

What made Sunday’s achievement even more remarkable is that both Raphinha and Lewandowski came off the bench to notch their braces. Never before in the history of La Liga had two substitutes from the same side scored twice apiece in the same match.

For Raphinha, it was his first double in a Barça shirt as a sub. For Lewandowski, who was marking his 150th appearance for the club, it continued a rich vein of form against Valencia — he has now found the net in all six games he has played against them since joining Barça. Incredible!

The win also capped a prolific run for Hansi Flick’s men against Los Che in 2025: three meetings (including one in the cup), and 18 goals scored. An average of six per game!
