Club América 1-2 Barça: Women: Win to round off preseason
Barça Women ended their preseason with a 2-1 win in the Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes against Club América in the final game of their tour of Mexico. Goals from Claudia Pina and Salma Paralluelo were enough for the win in the final test for the team before Saturday's debut in the league at the Estadi Johan Cruyff against Alhama.
Busy start
The Mexicans began the game well with former blaugrana Bruna Vilamala going close on three occasions against her former club. Barça had an effort cleared off the line before Alexia also went close with a chance from a corner.
Culer control
Barça slowly worked their way into the game and four minutes before half time they were ahead. A move involving Aitana and Brugts ended with Claudia Pina making it 1-0 to Barça. There was still time in the half for ex-Barça keeper Sandra Paños to deny Pajor and for Club América's Saldivar to hit the bar before the break.
Changes all round
Coach Pere Romeu made a host of chances in the second half but Barça remained in control of the contest. Salma Paralluelo had a goal disallowed before final making 2-0 on 74 minutes following a great pass from Vicky López. Camberos pulled one back for Club América with 10 minutes remaining but it was not enough to prevent Barça taking the win.
Barça Women return to Europe with their next challenge the opening league game of the season against Alhama at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday at 8pm CEST.
