It's now official. The FC Barcelona third kit for the 2025/26 season has been announced. Hansi Flick's side are set to wear an orange jersey for the first time since 2014/15, some 11 seasons ago. However, this tone has been very special for the blaugranes throughout their history. In fact, this will be the eighth season when Barça will wear a kit of that colour.

The Wembley jersey

An orange jersey was worn for the first time in the 1991/92 season when the first European Cup was won. It got its first outing on 2 October 1991 in the return leg of the last 32 of the competition away to Hansa Rostock, while the second occasion was again in Germany against Kaiserslautern on 6 November in the last 16 return leg, when Bakero scored the legendary goal.

The third and final game wearing the first orange jersey in Club history was the most special, the Wembley final on 20 May 1992, when FC Barcelona were crowned European champions after a goal by Ronald Koeman in extra time, meaning the jersey was always going to be remembered by FC Barcelona fans.

Two years in a row

The 1997/98 season saw Barça announce a second kit with orange as the main colour, a blue strip down the middle and black details. The Club actually used a similar model without the blue stripe for European competition and it was a successful campaign for Louis van Gaal and the team, as they won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the European Super Cup.

The following campaign saw the blaugranes back in orange for the 1998/99 season. The jersey was similar to the year before, but the stripe was horizontal this time. Van Gaal's men again went on to win LaLiga.

First in the 21st century

Seven seasons would go by before Barça wore the colour again, when they had a totally orange second kit, with thin blue lines around the neck and on the ends of the sleeves in the 2006/07 season. Coached by Frank Rijkaard at the time, the team had come off the back of winning the second Champions League and added a Spanish Super Cup to the trophy cabinet. Players such as Carles Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Ronaldinho wore the jersey.

The sextuple

The second kit for the 2009/10 season was salmon, a tone somewhere between orange and pale pink. One of the best remembered games in that jersey was the 2009 Club World Cup. That 19 December 2009, FC Barcelona completed the sextuple in Abu Dhabi with a 1-2 win after goals from Pedro Rodríguez and Messi. What's more, Guardiola and the team also won LaLiga, the European Super Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup. In fact, this year's third kit is inspired by that jersey that was worn for the first sextuple in the Club's history.

100 points in LaLiga

Now in the 2012/13 season, the second kit was yellow and orange with some mild grading. That season Barça won LaLiga with 100 points under the tutelage of Tito Vilanova.

Second treble for the Club

The last orange jersey worn by the blaugranes was the second kit for the 2014/15 season. In fact, it was totally orange, as a tribute to the 1992 European Cup. Coached at the time by Luis Enrique, the team won the second treble in the Club's history.

Hopefully orange will again bring joy to FC Barcelona fans for this 2025/26 campaign. Everything is possible with Hansi Flick's side.
