Will Clyburn joins Barça
Will Clyburn is a new Barça player. The American forward, who stands 2.01 metres tall, has signed a two-year contract with FC Barcelona, running until 30 June 2027. He put pen to paper in the Palau Blaugrana’s presidential box, in the presence of Josep Cubells. During his visit to Barcelona, the 35-year-old also underwent a medical check-up at Hospital de Barcelona.
"It’s an honour to be here" he said in his first interview with Barça One. "Everyone knows Barça is a historic club, and I just want to be part of that legacy."
His most recent team was Virtus Bologna, with whom he won the Italian league title. He arrives to strengthen the forward position alongside fellow newcomer Myles Cale, covering the departures of Justin Anderson and Alex Abrines.
"I’ve played in different positions, and I want to contribute my experience and help in any way I can" continued the Detroit native who has had a long career in European basketball. "You always have to take advantage of opportunities, that’s how you move forward. I’m ready to get started. I’m a warrior, and I’ll go out to win and help the team."
Seventh team in Europe
FC Barcelona will be the seventh European team Will Clyburn has played for, as he now begins his 13th professional season. He made his debut with modest German side Ulm, where he spent two seasons (2013–15). The following year he played in Israel for Hapoel Holon, finishing as the top scorer of the regular season (20.9 points per game).
That strong season earned him a move to a more competitive league, Turkey, where he impressed with Darussafaka (2016–2017). The team where he spent the most time and achieved the greatest success was CSKA Moscow (2017–2022), where he earned both individual and team honours. Two seasons with Efes (Turkish league champion in 2023) and one with Virtus (Italian champion in 2025) round out his European travels.
Winner of everything in Moscow
At the former Russian army club, Clyburn enjoyed his most notable success. Under coach Dimitris Itoudis, he won the 2019 EuroLeague and was named Final Four MVP. He also won three league titles with the CSKA.
But it wasn’t just titles that marked his time there. He also formed a close friendship with a teammate he later reunited with at Bologna and will now join again at Barça: Toko Shengelia.
Stats
In a total of nine EuroLeague seasons, Clyburn has played 243 games, averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and a performance index rating (PIR) of 15 in 28 minutes per game. His best PIR game came on 6 December (Virtus vs. Crvena Zvezda), when he posted a score of 38.
