Barakaldo CF 1-2 Barça Atlètic: A victory to believe in
A win that brings hope for Barça Atlètic as they took a 2-1 win away at Barakaldo CF in the second to last league game of the season in Group 1 in the Primera Federación. Sergi Milà's team still have a chance of avoiding relegation with a game at home against Unionistas de Salamanca to come.
Fernández cousins open the scoring
It was do or die for the blaugranes as they knew nothing less than a win would do. Barakaldo started strongly and keeper Astralaga had to be alert to prevent the home side from taking the lead. Barça created a couple of chances before Guille Fernández provided a chance for his cousin Toni, the latter scoring at the second attempt to make it 1-0 to the blaugranes after just 8 minutes.
Level before half time
Barça could have gone further ahead but Pedro Soma's goal was ruled out for offside. However, right on the stroke of half time, Valiño levelled things up with a rather fortuitous deflection from Ekaitz's shot.
Victory and belief
Barça came to dominate in the second half and after chances had come and gone, Alan Godoy made it 2-1 on 70 minutes after great work from Jan Virgili. There was a chance for a third when Rubén López was clean through, and also a chance for Barakaldo to equalise when Astralaga made a great save to deny Valiño.
The team came together to hold on for the win and that means Barça still have a chance to avoid the drop as they are three points from safety with a game to come on Saturday at 7pm CEST at home to Unionistas de Salamanca.
