Ter Stegen in Copa del Rey Final squad
The Copa del Rey is down to the last two, and those two are none other than FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. La Cartuja in Seville is the venue for what promises to be a gripping contest this Saturday.
Ter Stegen back after 215 days
And the squad announcement comes with some awesome news. After a recovery process that has taken almost all season, captain and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been declared full over his knee injury and is among the players that will be heading to Andalusia. It's over seven months since the day of that injury against Villarreal, which required surgery and a long period of absence.
But all that work has paid off, for although he was not expected to feature at all this season, he is back in time for the last few games, with the team still in contention to win all three major trophies - starting this very weekend.
Lewandowski, Balde, Bernal and Casadó remain injured, meaning that Hansi Flick's selection is as follows: Ter Stegen, Cubarsí, R. Araujo, I. Martinez, Gavi, Ferran, Pedri, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Iñaki Peña, Pablo Torre, Christensen, Fermín, Pau Víctor, Lamine Yamal, Olmo, F. De Jong, Kounde, Eric, Szczęsny, H. Fort and Gerard Martín.
The team are heading to Seville this Friday, where they will train at the stadium and also give press conferences. Watch this space for the details!
