It's been four years, but FC Barcelona may be celebrating winning another Copa del Rey soon. On Saturday against Real Madrid at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, Hansi Flick's team have the chance to win their second trophy of the season after the Spanish Super Cup win in Saudi Arabia.

And this Copa del Rey final is the first chance to play in such a showpiece final for no fewer than 11 players from the Barça first team squad, namely Cubarsí, Kounde, Gavi, Pablo Torre, Fermín López, Ferran Torres, Pau Víctor, Lamine Yamal, Eric Garcia, Ansu Fati and Iñaki Peña.

It should be said though that Iñaki Peña – substitute in the last Copa del Rey final Barça played – and Ansu Fati – who missed out due to injury – were actually part of the squad in the 2020/21 season managed by Ronald Koeman that lifted the trophy after defeating Athletic Club 0-4, also at the La Cartuja stadium.

Ferran Torres has also won the Copa del Rey with Valencia in the 2018/19 season, but as he didn't play a minute of that Barça v Valencia final, he could also play in a final for the first time.

Players such as Gerard Martín and Héctor Fort, who are in and around the first team squad yet still registered for the development side, could also play their first Copa del Rey final, and add a medal to their collection should the blaugranes win.

10 players could win first Copa del Rey trophy

Joining the three development players are 10 players from the FC Barcelona first team squad who can also win their first Copa del Rey. If we remove Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Iñaki Peña from the earlier list, we can add Marc Casadó and Balde – they won't play due to injury but would still win it – and Iñigo Martinez, who played and lost two Copa del Rey finals with Athletic Club (2020 and 2021). As such, the list becomes Cubarsí, Balde, Kounde, Gavi, Pablo Torre, Fermín López, Pau Víctor, Lamine Yamal, Marc Casadó and Iñigo Martinez.

Clearly this would be the first Spanish Cup win and final debut for players such as Szczęsny, Dani Olmo, Christensen, Raphinha and Eric Garcia, but they have all won this type of tournament in other countries earlier in their careers: Szczęsny with Arsenal and Juventus; Dani Olmo with Dinamo Zagreb and Leipzig; Christensen with Chelsea; Raphinha with Sporting Clube de Portugal; and Eric Garcia with Manchester City. Other than Eric, they all got game time in the grand finals.

There is also Robert Lewandowski, who is now injured, but he played and won cup finals with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Lech Poznan.
