Liceo 2-4 Barça: Group stage ends with victory

A brace apiece from Marc Grau and Ignacio Alabart helps the blaugranes overcome the Galicians

The WSE Champions League group stage has ended with a win for FC Barcelona, the 2-4 victory against Liceo (2-4) ensuring Edu Castro's side remain in top spot, unbeaten with 5 wins and a draw, and through to the quarterfinals against Sporting.

Early control

A lively start to the game saw a focus on attack, Bargalló, Rodrigues and Alabart all with chances. The breakthrough came when Marc Grau clinically finished a transition after loose play by the Galician side (0-1, min. 9) before Ignacio Alabart got a second just two minutes later (0-2, min.11). The home side had two good chances in succession to score, but the score remained unchanged at the break.

Goals shared as victory confirmed 

Liceo got their first after the break, Dava Torres firing powerfully past Sergio Fernandez on 30 minutes, but Ignacio Alabart restored the lead and completed his brace just a minute later (1-3, min. 31).

Liceo again cut back into the lead through Fabrizio Ciocale with 15 minutes to go, but despite both sides having further chances, the final goal came just before the end when Marc Grau scored to make it Liceo 2-4 Barça.
