Barça 1-2 Cartagena: The Super Cup slips away

Pito put Barça ahead but goals from Motta and Tomaz hand their opponents the title in Jaén

It was not to be for the Barça as Jesús Velasco's team were unable to retain their Spanish Super Cup after going down to defeat against Jimbee Cartagena. In a great final, Pito put the blaugranes in front but goals from Motta and Tomaz turned out to be crucial and took the title away from the blaugranes.

The game could not have started better for Barça with Pito putting them ahead after just two minutes. However, Cartagena were almost immediately back on level terms when Motta scored from distance on 5 minutes.

Chances came and went for both sides and caution was the watchword with so much at stake. Into the second half and Cartagena took the intiative with Barça keeper Feixas called into action on more than one occasion. However, he could nothing about Tomaz's effort which put his side in front on 29 minutes.

Barça tried to come back, sacrificing their keeper for the last 4 minutes but they came up short and Cartagena took their first ever futsal title.
