FC Barcelona wins TikTok award for Social Impact
The Barça women's team is not only achieving great things on the pitch. It is also continuing to enjoy exponential growth on social media, breaking new ground and serving as a role model for young girls. And the latest recognition of its endeavours has come in the form of the TikTok award for Brand Social Impact. FC Barcelona was shortlisted for the prize along with Playz, Freeda, Amnistia España, Greenpeace Espana and the Liga F, and ended up winning the top honour.
The digital realm provides a wonderful way for the team to get closer to its fan community, connect with new audiences and share premium contents, all of which also helps to promote the players themselves as leading influencers who can inspire the next generation. The club is very aware of this potential and has been working hard to create new entertainment content, including the creation of a new Barça Identity area to boost the Barça name on its different digital channels.
The TikTok account is not much more than half a year old, but it already has over 1.2 million followers and a few weeks ago broke the 100 million views mark, which all goes to show that we are talking about a mass phenomenon that's just getting bigger and bigger.
And that wasn't the only recognition for Barça at this year's TikTok awards, for the global account was among the nominees for the best Esports brand, although it did not end up taking the top prize.
