Future Spotify Camp Nou to have a memorial for FC Barcelona fans

With a columbarium capable of holding 26,600 urns and an 180 square metre area for commemorative plaques, the Memorial FC Barcelona is a space designed to pay tribute to blaugrana fans

As part of the Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment at the epicentre of Espai Barça, the Club announces a new project that consists of creating a memorial where fans can have their ashes placed to rest at FC Barcelona's home. Located just metres away from the pitch itself, fans will be able to pledge their eternal passion for the Club, its colours, and the moments and achievements throughout Barça's history at this space full of symbolism.

Named Memorial FC Barcelona, the Club worked with Eternal Sports Memorial to design a unique and comprehensive project for paying tribute to fans, given their importance to the blaugrana family. The space will be able to house the ashes of the most dedicated fans and there will be a 180 square metre area for placing 9000 exclusive limited edition commemorative plaques for living fans who want to see their name alongside the Club's major stars and characters, and to form part of the one of the most thought-provoking areas of the future Spotify Camp Nou.

With the 26,600-capacity columbarium inside the stadium in a privileged area, the urns will remain hidden behind large murals that will highlight emblematic moments from the almost 125 years of Club history, showing some of the most legendary successes. These unforgettable moments were also important during the lives of the fans at rest in the urns in the columbarium. There will also be a shared space for storing ashes.

With the permits required for including a funerary area in the future Spotify Camp Nou granted, the design aims to highlight the sense of belonging for all members and fans. As such, FC Barcelona has brought to fruition one of the aims when redeveloping the blaugrana home, namely to include its loyal fans in the sentimental journey through the Club's history. Barça may represent a story of success, but it is also a story of persistence, of overcoming adversity, and ambition, with the fans always providing their support, standing with the team even during the most difficult times.

A commemorative space full of blaugrana feeling

The columbarium will be an open, warm space given the materials and textures used in its construction, and the layout will be based on four elements. Four lit cubes will simulate skylights, with the light they project acting as a metaphor for the continuity of life and the connection with the blaugrana home. As such, the emotional bond between the fans and the Club will be conserved, becoming a commemorative area that will perpetuate the blaugrana feeling. The commemorative plaques will be placed on a glass wall backlit with LED lights.

To have an urn placed in the columbarium will cost between 250 and 6,000 euros, depending on the duration of the allocation, and the price for the Ara Comunitaria will be 1,500 euros. The commemorative plaques will cost 300 euros.

Members will have early access for two weeks from today, 31 October, before the spaces go on sale to the general public. The Club and Eternal Sports Memorial have created a dedicated website containing all the information.
