A different kind of talent

João Félix burst onto the scene at the age of just 18 when he made his first team debut for Benfica during the 2018/19 season. The midfielder soon earned himself a regular spot in the starting line up at the Lisbon based club. That season was a spectacular one for Félix as his 15 goals and seven assists helped Benfica to the league title.

In all competitions he played a total of 43 matches, dazzling the fans with talent and creativity in the final third of the pitch. That year he was named winner of the Golden Boy, a prize subsequently won by both Pedri and Gavi.

Ample experience in Spanish Football

His performances caught the attention of Atlético Madrid and he became the most expensive signing in the club’s history. Since joining in the summer of 2019, João Félix has made more than 100 appearances for the club from the capital in three and a half seasons. The Portuguese international also has experience of playing in England after joining Chelsea on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Now, at just 23 years of age, and after expressing his long-held desire to be a blaugrana, João Félix has the chance to show the world his talent in a Barça shirt.
