Fermín López, blaugrana until 2027

The midfielder from Andalusia has reached an agreement with the Club to extend his contract until 30 June 2027 with a buy out clause set at 400 million euros

The player Fermín López has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona to extend his contract until 30 June 2027. The Andalusian midfielder signed his contract on Tuesday in the presence of the board member responsible for youth football, Joan Soler, the Club's sporting director, Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco' and the director of youth football, José Ramón Alexanco at the offices at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The buy out clause is set at 400 million euros.

Eighth season as a blaugrana

Born on 11 May, 2003 in El Campillo, Huelva, Fermín López came to Barça in the summer of 2016 from Real Betis after beginning his career with his local team and then Recreativo de Huelva. At Barça he started out in the U14A side before moving up to U16 and then to the U19s when he signed his first contract.

Small in stature, he developed as a midfielder in U19s, becoming more attacking and more of a goal threat in the opponents' penalty area. In the season 2021/22 he scored the goal that gave the U19A side the league title at Cornellà. At the end of that campaign he signed a two year contract and made the move to Barça Atlètic.

A useful loan spell

Fermín began the 2022/23 season with Barça Atètic before making a loan move to Linares ahead of the start of the official campaign. The spell was a success, giving the midfielder experience with 37 appearances and 12 goals in the Primera Federación.

The time with Linares saw him given an opportunity with the first team under Xavi Hernández in preseason and since then he has remained involved making his official debut in the final minutes of the 4-3 win away at Villarreal.
