PREVIEW: FC Barcelona Women v Wolfsburg

Jonatan Giráldez's team face their third consecutive Champions League final with more than 8,000 Barça fans expected to get right behind the team

The day is finally here. Saturday 3 June 2023 sees Barça Women in search of their second Champions League title with only German side Wolfsburg standing in their way. It is the third consecutive appearance in the final for the blaugranes as they seek to repeat the triumph of two years ago in Gothenburg and at the same time banish the ghosts of last season's defeat in Turin.

Barça have the chance to move into the elite of women's football in Europe as a second victory in the competition would see them placed third on the all time list only behind Olympique Lyonnais with eight titles and FFC Frankfurt with four.

In their path, Barça Women find a fierce opponent in German side Wolfsburg who boast some world class talent with the likes of  Popp, Pajor, Jonsdottir, Roord and Huth in their squad. To reach the final in Eindhoven, the German side disposed of Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter finals before a tough semi final where they pipped English side Arsenal.

Blaugrana support

Once more the Barça fans will be behind their team. After filling the Estadi Johan Cruyff during the season, and also at the Spotify Camp Nou at various points, the blaugrana army moves on to Eindhoven. Just as they did in Turin last season, the supporters will play their part with more than 8,000 expected in the Philips Stadion on Saturday.
