La Nucia 1-0 Barça Atlètic: Play-offs will have to wait

The reserves slip up in Valencia and qualification comes down to the last game against Logroñés

Barça Atlètic need just one point to make sure of a place in the play-offs for a place in the second division next season, but they didn't get it today against La Nucía. They may have dominated most of the play, but the only goal of the evening was scored by Arnau Tenas in his own net.

Elsewhere, Murcia did win their own fixture, so now Barça need to make sure they win next week at the Estadi Johan Cruyff against Logroñés.

Unrewarded dominance

Luismi Curz and Txus Alba early on and Sergi Rosanas just before the break had the best Barça chances of the first half, but despite some beautiful football, all those first half efforts were in vain.

La Nucia also had their moments, but there was very little to truly worry Arnau Tenas until Mariano Sanz did find the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

Frustrated

An attempted lob from Luismi Cruz, Roberto hit the side-netting... Surely the goal was going tome eventually?

But no, and just when Barça were looking more dangerous than ever, a La Nucia cross that didn't seem too much of an issue turned nasty and Arnau Tenas ended up scoring in his own net.

Barça looked to have levelled things right at the end, but Pocho Román's shot was amazingly saved by the home keeper. This was a game the Catalans really should have won, but football can be a cruel game sometimes. Thankfully, there will be another chance next week.
