History made between the sticks

FC Barcelona kept a 24th clean sheet of the Liga season against Betis, which is an all-time club record

La Liga 2022/23 will probably be remembered for one thing above anything else... FC Barcelona's extraordinary defensive record. After 32 games and with just six to go, Barça has kept a simply astonishing 24 clean sheets, already one more than the club's all-time record of 23 set in 2014/15.

One away from Chelsea

Barça have also equalled the Liga record, until now held by the Atlético Madrid of 2015/16, which ended the year with 24. One more shutout and Ter Stegen and company will have beaten that. One more would also match the record in the 'big five' European leagues this century, currently held by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea of 2004/05 (25 clean sheets).

11 goals against

Barça are also on course to make history for goals conceded. They still have six games to go, and have only leaked 11 goals, and if they continue the form shown until now, they can surpass the mere 15 goals conceded by that same Chelsea team of 20004/05. As for the Spanish record, there's even more of a margin, for the records since the league was expanded to 20 teams is currently shared by Atletico Madrid 2015/16 and Deportivo 1993/94 (both 18).

Just two at home

A penalty scored by Espanyol and an own goal for Real Madrid are the only goals Barça have conceded at Spotify Camp Nou this league season. The record for the fewest goals conceded at home in a season is currently held by Valladolid, who only conceded six times at Zorrilla in 1987/88. Barça have just three more home games to come this term, against Osasuna on Tuesday, and then Real Sociedad and Mallorca.
