Girona 73-84 FC Barcelona: Winning streak continues

It wasn't only the football team that was victorious in Girona today

Just hours after the football team won 1-0 in La Liga, the Barça basketball team did likewise. The home side put of a strong fight, but the blaugrana always looked like winning this and have now strung together eight victories in a row.

Jokubaitis and Mirotic led the way with 21 points each

The game was tight enough at first, but a 9-point streak at the end of the first period meant Barça ended it with a double-figure lead. But some great Girona defending changed the pattern in the second period, and by the end of it, Barça were trailing by one.

If the first half had been about errors, the second was about two teams getting everything right. Mirotic and Laprovittola finally found their A games and going into the final period, Barça had re-established their big lead of the first.

Girona never stopped battling, and there was some great play from both teams in the end game, but Barça had built up a wide enough cushion never to have to worry too much about this one slipping away. And it didn't.
