FC Barcelona and Club Ferro Carril Oeste have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Argentinian player, who signed a contract up to 30 June 2026, which includes a 400 million euro clause

An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and Club Ferro Carril Oeste for the transfer of the player, Lucas Román, who has signed a contract up to 30 June 2026, which includes a 400 million euro release clause.

The Argentinian signed his contract with FC Barcelona in the presence of Joan Soler, the director responsible for youth football, and Jose Ramon Alexanco, youth football general manager. He then went for a photo session wearing the Barça jersey at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

A difference maker with a goalscoring instinct

Born in the Caballito neighbourhood in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on 10 February 2004, Lucas Román progressed through the Club Ferro youth categories from the age of 7 years old through to the first team. Last season, his second at Under-19 level, he played 27 games, scoring three goals and creating one assist. Lucas Román, or Pocho Román, as they know him in Argentina, is known for being able to play anywhere in attacking positions. He is left footed and can play centre forward, right wing, or second striker.

International in youth categories

His good performances have made him a regular in the different Argentina squads at youth level. Lucas Román has played with the Under-13s, the Under-15s, the Under-17s when coached by Pablo Aimar, and the Under-20s when coached by Fernando Batista, as well as under the current coach, Javier Mascherano. He also played with another Barça Atlètic player at that level, namely Román Vega.
