Barça face a hectic month, playing up to eight games should they progress in every competition

The new year begins and Barça have a hectic month ahead. Xavi Hernández and the squad could potentially play eight games in only 25 days, providing they progress through rounds in the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.

New opponent for the first game of 2023

The first game of 2023 is the Copa del Rey round of 32 match on 4 January against Intercity at the José Rico Pérez stadium (kickoff 9pm CET). This will be followed by a weekend trip to the Metropolitano Stadium for the LaLiga matchday 16 game against Atlético Madrid on 8 January (kickoff 9pm CET).

First trophy up for grabs

The Spanish Super Cup takes place the week after, with the first trophy of the season and the Xavi era up for grabs. Barça will first have to overcome Betis in the semi final on 12 January to go through to the final on 15 January where they would meet either Real Madrid or Valencia.

Final push 

The last couple of weeks in January could also be double game weeks should Barça remain in the Copa de Rey. The last 16 match would be played on a date between 17-19 January, before the weekend of 21/22 January will see Getafe travel to the Spotify Camp Nou for the first home game in the stadium. The date and time of this LaLiga matchday 18 fixture is yet to be confirmed.

The last week of the month follows the same pattern, a potential Copa del Rey quarterfinal played on a date between 24-26 January, before a trip to Girona for the LaLiga matchday 19 fixture on the weekend of 28/29 January, date and time of the match in the Municipal de Montilivi stadium also still to be confirmed.
