Rio Breogán 74–78 Barça: Worthy winners
Hard fought win for Sara Jasikevicius' team as they overcame Río Breogán 78-74 away from home. The game was only decided in the closing minutes with the Galician side making life difficult for the blaugranes until Nikola Mirotic guided the blaugranes to victory in the fourth quarter to end the game with 16 points.
Neither side dominates
Barça came out determined to put the defeat against Asvel in the Euroleague behind them. James Nnaji was the star of the opening minutes with 8 point and 1 block in the first quarter to give the visitors a 17-11 lead after six minutes. However, the home side fought back to lead 25-23 at the end of first period.
In the second quarter the contest remained tight. The two teams exchanged baskets on a near constant basis and it was a Kalinic's score that handed Barça a 43-40 lead at half time.
The game leans Barça's way
in the second half the blaugranes stormed into the lead at 52-44 thanks to scores from Laprovittola and Mirotic. Nevertheless, mistakes on defence caused Saras' team to forego their advantage with the scores locked tight at 61-61 with just the fourth quarter to come.
In the final period Mirotic took responsibility and a three pointer from the Montenegrin put Barça 74-71 in front. The blaugranes stretched that lead to six points with less than a minute to go before closing out a 78-74 win.
Next up for Barça is a Euroleague game away from home on Wednesday 14 December (7pm CET) at AS Monaco.
