Inter Miami vs Barça: Sun, Sand, and Six Goals

Aubameyang, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Gavi, Memphis, and Dembélé all find the net in Barça's convincing triumph over Inter Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — FC Barcelona opened their American summer tour in impressive fashion on Tuesday night, scoring three times each half en route to a convincing 6-0 victory over Inter Miami at a sold-out DNV PNK Stadium.

And the goals weren’t ordinary either. All six were bona fide, highlight-reel-worthy strikes.

Barça opened the scoring in the 19th, when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the left side of the box to cap an impressive succession of triangulations that ended when Raphinha picked out the Gabonese striker at the far post. Aubameyang settled and deftly chipped in past Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman.

Six minutes later, in the 25th, Raphinha volleyed Alejandro Balde’s brilliant cross past Marsman to notch Barça’s second.

Ansu Fati made it three just four minutes from halftime, unleashing a screamer from just inside the penalty area into the top shelf.

Inter Miami had no answer for Raphinha, who flummoxed the MLS side throughout the first 45 minutes, scoring once and providing two assists.

After halftime, Barça, who on Tuesday night were managed by Òscar Hernández — Xavi’s brother and first assistant — kept their foot firmly on the gas pedal.

Gavi added Barça’s fourth of the night in minute 55, when the scrappy midfielder blasted a low Memphis Depay corner kick into the top of the net.

Memphis made it 5-0 in the 69th with the most electric goal of the evening. The Dutchman, camped out inside the box with his back to the net, settled a pass from Jordi Alba and made a lightning quick double fake before leaving an Inter Miami defender in his wake and slotting into the lower right corner.

And one minute later, Ousmane Dembélé breezed through the Inter defense to the edge of the box before shooting low and finding the net just inside the right post.

At the other end of the field, the blaugrana defense was equally adept, affording Inter Miami little space in which to operate and limiting the American outfit to just one shot off target in all 90 minutes.

Barça fly to Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday and will face Real Madrid on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium.
