New kit for the 2022/23 season inspired by Barcelona Olympic city on the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Games

Presented under the tagline “The Flame Lives On”, and including the Spotify and UNHCR/ACNUR logos on the front and back, the home jersey will be available from Friday 3 June exclusively in the Barça Store and via the Club’s online store

FC Barcelona is showcasing an innovative, yet simple and elegant kit for the 2022/23 season, inspired by the Barcelona Olympics in the year that the city is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the transformation. The new jersey harks back to the landmark event and is being presented today, Friday 3 June, under the tagline “The Flame Lives On”. Its design evokes the spirit of that period of regeneration and redefinition, a time when Barcelona opened up to the world and the world opened up to Barcelona.

30 years ago, the city took a huge leap forward into modernity by hosting the Olympic Games, but at the same time conserving its spirit and roots. As the present era is also one of such major changes to the first team squad, the club has decided to draw on and share that Olympic spirit at a time when its efforts are very much focused on the future.

The jersey also includes the logo of the Club's main partner, Spotify, on the front for the first time, as well as a message of solidarity in support of refugees with the UNHCR/ACNUR logo below the number on the back.

The new jersey is exclusively available for purchase for a five day period starting Friday 3 June from the Barça Stores at Camp Nou, Passeig de Gràcia, La Roca Village, and Barcelona Airport T1 and T2, as well as through the club’s online store. It will go on general release from all regular points of sale from June 8.

The new kit that players will wear on the pitch and the replica jerseys for the fans are constructed with 100 percent recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.

A design that evokes the city’s brightness

The Olympic Games brought about social and cultural change for all Barcelona residents, as well as urban development. The creation of the Port Olímpic and the remodelling of what is now the Vila Olímpica connected the city with the sea. Barcelona also gained new infrastructures and installations that have gone on to become iconic landmarks, such as the Palau Sant Jordi, Norman Foster’s Torre de Collserola, and Santiago Calatrava’s Montjuïc Communications Tower. At the same time, new green spaces and urban networks were opened up. The Olympic spirit flooded the city’s streets with a sense of pride that has endured to this day.

The design of home strip evokes the new light introduced to the city of Barcelona with the creation of new spaces and most especially new connections to the sea, an idea that is represented by the different coloured stripes on the shirt, where red alternates with two different shades of blue, one navy and the other lighter. The same navy blue also features on the collar, sleeves, shorts, and socks.

The kit launch campaign is also designed to reflect the spirit of Barcelona ’92, whereby the different graphic elements include a similar typography to the one used at the time, and includes the different messages that were used in the posters of 30 years ago in four different languages, namely Catalan, Spanish, English and French.

Spotify debuts on the front and UNHCR/ACNUR on the back

One of the most striking new features of the 2022/23 kit is the presence of the new main partner. For the first time, the men’s and women’s shirts will have the Spotify name on the front, together with the Nike swoosh, both in a sesame tone. The club has also changed the logo of the UN agency on the back of the men’s and women’s shirts, as well as that of the Barça Foundation team playing in the Liga Genuine, which is now UNHCR/ACNUR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), in the same colour. In the case of the other four professional sports teams (basketball, handball, roller hockey and futsal) the sponsor will continue to be Assistència Sanitària.

Shirts for life

On the occasion of the launch, FC Barcelona is also unveiling a new action involving all fans who purchase the home shirt at the Barça Store or the club’s e-commerce outlets between June 3 and 30. They will all be entered for a draw to win a lifetime supply of shirts.

From the 2023/24 season and for the rest of their life, the winner of the draw held before a notary will be receiving the latest official home shirt every year.
