FC Barcelona B Instagram account hits 8 million followers

The reserve team's account is the fourth most followed out of all the clubs in LaLiga, LaLigaSmartbank and Primera RFEF

The Barça B account on Instagram (@fcbarcelonab) now has eight million followers. Four and half years after being set up, it reached the milestone figure on Thursday 8 May.

A total of 3,906 posts to date, an average of 70 a month, have included photos, videos and all kinds of creativities related to the reserves and their games, training, goals, games, trips, squads, line-ups, injuries, services, interviews and entertainments. These have generated an amazing 2.6 million engagements a month!

Fourth biggest account in Spain

Barça B’s account is the fourth most followed of all football teams in the Spanish pyramid. Only Real Madrid (116 million), FC Barcelona (108) and Atlético Madrid (14) have more. Incredible for a reserve team playing in the third tier! 

The fifth most followed Instagram is the Barça youth teams (@FCBMasia) with 6.5 million and in sixth we have @FCBFemeni with 3.4, meaning these accounts have more followers than such senior teams as Sevilla (1.6 million), Villarreal (1.3) and Real Betis (1.2).

Barça B also has more followers than several top teams around Europe, including:

Premier League: Leicester City (6.4 million), Everton (2.6), West Ham (1.9) and Newcastle United (1.1)
Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen (1.8), RB Leipzig (1.3), Borussia Mönchengladbach (742,000) and Wolfsburg (631,000)
Serie A: Almost as many as Inter Milan (8.1 million) and more than Napoli (2.9), Roma (4.3), Fiorentina (1 million) and Lazio (960.000)
Ligue 1: Olympique Marseille (2.2), Olympique Lyonnais (2.1) and Monaco (1.8)
Eresdivisie: Ajax (7.2)

The top three posts in terms of engagements this season have been:

As for the most likes, the top two are reversed. Pablo Torre tops the list with 258,000, followed by Antonio Aranda with 226,000.
Next come the senior debuts of Alejandro Balde and Gavi in the Champions League (164,000), while other highly placed posts include Ilias Akhomach’s first team debut (111,000) and the club’s 122th anniversary (101,000).

Most viewed video: Matheus Pereira’s goal

The most comments were generated by Antonio Aranda’s contract (1,790), while the most viewed video was the terrific goal scored by Matheus Pereira to snatch a draw with Real Madrid Castilla at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (596,000 impressions and 252,000 views). This was closely followed by Xavi Hernández’s attendance of the game with Sevilla Atlético just after becoming first team coach (587,000 impressions and 214,000 views) and in third place we have the victory over Villarreal B with goals scored by Ferran Jutglà and Aranda (298,000 impressions and 110,000 views).

The most successful Reel was the video of a shooting accuracy exercise into a small-size goal (1.2 million views and 100,000 likes). 

Barça B naturally has most Instagram followers in Spain. After that come Brazil, Egypt, India, Morocco and Indonesia.

Finally, 86% of Barça’s audience is aged between 13 and 44 years.
