Ansu Fati back in blaugrana

101 days after his injury, the 19-year-old reappears at the Camp Nou to the sound of a standing ovation

Ansu Fati made his long-awaited return to action on Sunday at Camp Nou, coming on in the 75th minute of the 2-1 victory over Mallorca.

101 days after losing one of the world’s most promising players to injury, Barça fans were buzzing at the sight of the 19-year-old warming up for his entrance.

The harrowing sight of the Bissau-born starlet leaving the field in tears against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey is finally a thing of the past. Although Ansu had little time to show what he is truly made of (despite barely participating in this season he has still scored five goals), the mere fact that he was out there was reassuring to anyone who holds this club, and this player, dear in their hearts.

Ansu Fati is smiling again.

Jordi Alba does it again

Aside from Ansu and the win, another positive note to come out of today’s game was yet another assists for Jordi Alba’s collection. After setting up Memphis for the first goal of the night, the full back has now given nine goal passes in La Liga 2021/22.

That’s the highest tally for a defender since 2011/12, when somebody gave eleven assists. That somebody was none other than Dani Alves.

There are still four games to though. Does Alba have anything else up his sleeve? Don’t count it out!
