The friendly will be the first ever between the blaugranes and an Australian side, as well as being their first ever trip to the country. The Barça first team has never had a player or a coach from the country that is the sixth largest in the world. The club's basketball has had Australian players over the years with the likes of David Andersen, Joe Ingles and Nathan Jawai having represented Barça and one of the stars of the current squad, Dante Exum, is also Australian.

This friendly is part of a special week in the Australian soccer calendar, taking place just three days before the A-League final.

The historic encounter can be watched under subscription on Barça TV+, FC Barcelona’s streaming platform.
